Gumla Rape Case: Three Arrested for Alleged Assault on 13-Year-Old Girl

Gumla: Three men were arrested on Saturday for allegedly raping a 13-year-old girl in Gumla district, police said on Sunday.Police said the girl was returning home after celebrating Sarhul around 4 am when the accused accosted her, forcibly took her to a nearby forest and raped her. She narrated her ordeal to her parents after reaching home.Following the complaint lodged by the girl’s mother on Saturday noon and as per instruction of Gumla SP Haris Bin Zaman, a police team was constituted. The team conducted raids and arrested the accused aged 29, 22 and 24, all residents of the same village, on Saturday evening.“A forensic team was called to the place of occurrence on Sunday and medical examinations of both the girl and the accused were conducted on Sunday. Some more tests will be carried out on Monday,” a police officer said.“The accused have been booked under sections 70(2) and 351(2) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Samhita (BNS) and sections 4 and 6 of the Pocso Act, 2012,” the officer added.
